e-shape at GEO Week 2021

e-shape once again had a strong presence in GEO Week 2021 accentuating the project's contribution to GEO and EuroGEO at Side event: e-shape project contribution to GEO, EuroGEO and the GEO WP.

This year is one of the most important with major milestones linked to global policy agendas. There is the 26th Conference of the Parties (COP26) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, there is also the 15th Conference of the Parties (COP15) to the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity, the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development and the UN Decade of Ecosystem Restoration. These all bring a new set of challenges and opportunities for the international EO community.

During GEO Week 2021, many activities of the GEO work programme that address these areas were presented. Notably through the lens of nexus thinking it was highlighted how the use of EO in different sectors contribute to these efforts and why integration across thematic areas is essential.

e-shape as a unique initiative that brings together decades of public investment in Earth Observation and in cloud capabilities into services for the decision-makers, the citizens, the industry and the researchers participated in the GEO Week Side event: e-shape project contribution to GEO, EuroGEO and the GEO WP.

It is worth mentioning that agrowth platform, which provides a crop monitoring service offering information and/or actionable advice at the level of the individual parcel, combining EO data and AI technology, developed from our e-shape pilot EU-CAP Support, was specifically mentioned in the GEO Highlights Final Report 2021 (pg 41) under the thematic “EuroGEO Delivers EO Applications for Users”.
